Sunday Social

Happy Sunday!
This week's Sunday Social post is all about blogging!

1. What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with it??
This is You.And.Me.Are.We - I started blogging here as a way to preserve memories of this time in my life. Being a busy newlywed, I wanted to be able to look back at specific days or weeks and let my words take me back to that time. Trevor and I would love to have kids in the next few years, so we're really trying to find ways to enjoy this time we have alone together now. Blogging is one of those ways.

The name itself just kind of came about. I was trying to figure out a name that would be about 'us' but still keep some individuality. I think You.And.Me.Are.We fits that bill pretty darn well, wouldn't you say so?

2. What do you love the most about blogging??
The people I've met through it!
The fact that I can do it on my own time.
The way Trevor and I are keeping memories alive!

3. What are your 2 favorite posts you've written?
Oh, this is tough!
This post and this post are the two most popular posts I've written if you go by page views.
But, I think that this post changed blogging for me. I came clean about who I am and what I'm working towards. I was never dishonest before that post, but after I hit 'publish' I felt a heck of a lot freer and felt that I could write more truthfully.

4. What is something you'd want to tell someone just starting out in blog world?
Get to know other bloggers. They are some of the nicest people you will ever come across. They will help you if you help them! Also, don't get caught up in all the link ups. I love that I spend my weekends posting posts to link up (like this one!) but if you do it every day of the week, you won't gain meaningful readers.

5. Biggest blogging learning experience you've had?
I don't know that I've had one specific learning experience that has changed my way of blogging except for the one I mentioned above. I pick things up as I go, so in that sense I learn slowly and constantly.

6. Give us 3 blogs we NEED to be following that you love.
I can't keep it at just THREE! I posted on this topic a little while ago, so visit this post to get the whole scoop!

Head over to the link party to find more blogs that have linked up with Neely and Ashley today for Sunday Social :)

Sunday Social

Today's Sunday Social is a recap of all that happened this summer. It's hard to say goodbye to the days of no school and sunny beach days but I'm already rockin' the darker nail polish and dreaming of picking apples!

What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer?
Well, I loved both of our big trips this summer for different reasons.
Our trip to Chicago and Indiana was incredibly fun and we had a great time with some wonderful friends whom we don't see enough of.

And our trip "up north" to the cottage was very relaxing and a really good way for us to spend some quality time together before school and work started taking over our lives again.

Favorite outfit look of the summer/clothing item?
I didn't get caught up in any trends this summer... maybe because I was wearing scrubs most of the time. I've always been a lace lover {my wedding dress was completely lace} so I'm definitely a fan of the lace trend that we've seen a lot of lately!
(source)
What is one thing you wish you had gotten to do this summer?
Travel more! And I wish I got to book more vacations because that would mean that we'd have some fun trips planned for the coming months. We've been looking at clicking the button on a couple different vacations for next summer but it's hard to do when we're not sure who is going to be working and who is going to be going to school next semester.

Favorite Song of the Summer?
I'm still liking Phillip Phillips' Home - there's just something about it!

But I also have loved seeing all of the Call Me Maybe videos!

Favorite movie/tv show of the summer?
Totally a tie.

Between NY Med
(source)
And The Glee Project {Season 2}.
(source)
Yup, I'm a {real} reality show addict in the summer!

Was your summer similar to mine?

Sunday Social

Happy Sunday, everyone! I'm spending my day at a baby shower for a very sweet lady. Before I do that, here's this week's Sunday Social!

1. What is the first website you log into each day?

My email. I keep a zillion tabs open on my computer so that when I wake it up in the morning, there are already a bunch of websites open. But I usually check email first, then Blogger to make sure everything posted like it was supposed to {because I schedule 99% of my posts}, and then Facebook.

2. Give us some funny websites that you visit that we need to know about.
The Onion - they come up with the most ridiculous stuff!
Funny or Die - I hardly ever visit the page itself, but it seems like all the funny stuff posted on Facebook or Twitter comes back to this site.

...I don't know of any other ones. I use the internet more for business stuff and catching up with friends... when it comes to funny stuff, I just see what other people post.
Yeah, I'm lame.

3. Pinterest or Facebook? Why?
This is a toughie... I guess Facebook because it's a little more versatile and you can catch up with friends. I still love Pinterest, though, but for different reasons.

4. Twitter or Instagram? Why?
Easy. Twitter. I can't IG because I don't have a smart phone. So sue me! My husband doesn't even like to text, so it's a stupid idea for us to get a smart phone plan if he's not even going to use it.

5. Favorite YouTube video. Post it!
David After Dentist {Remix}, no doubt about it! I will still laugh my butt off and sing along, even after how-ever-many years it's been since I first saw it. I love the screaming, it gets me every time.

And this little gem I posted a little while ago is a pretty close second!

6. Biggest online pet peeve?
Gosh, I don't know... spam, probably. I'm pretty tolerant when it comes to other stuff - I just figure it's a difference of opinion or that the other party doesn't know any better. Maybe I'm too nice?

I'm linking up with Neely and Ashley; you should too!

Sunday Social

Oh, this Sunday Social is gonna be a good one.

I can't wait to see everyone else's posts because after this post is published I will officially have embarrassed myself and that means many others have too!
Prepare yourselves. Can't say I didn't warn you!

1. What were you like in Middle School/HS?(pictures)
In middle school, I ran with the more popular crowd... and I was a bit of a mean girl. But I was still friends with a lot of people from different crowds!
This was in 7th grade on Crazy Hair Day {no, I did not wear my hair like that always}... I'm on the right with the glasses. Recognize the girl in the gray sweatshirt next to me? She's the beautiful bride I posted about in this post. I'm standing up in her wedding in a few weeks. We've been friends since 2nd grade :)

After we moved to a new city for 8th grade and high school, I {obviously} made new friends... but I think I'd say I was more of a band geek/smart kid/goody two shoes. Again, I was friends with just about everyone.
Me and my closest friends sophomore or junior year - I'm the one with the glasses.

2.  What were your favorite past times?
Anything with my friends. Singing with friends, being stupid with friends, talking on the phone for hours with friends, AIM {with friends, duh.}, being annoying with friends, you get the picture.

3. What songs were you obsessed with?
Anything Maroon 5, & Wicked in high school.
I can't remember anything music-wise from middle school.

4. What fashion statement do you look back on and cringe?
Those poofy bubble stretch shirts. They looked like they could fit a doll but then you put them on and not only did they fit, you looked like a pointy dummy. You know the ones I'm talking about?
(source)
5. Who was your celeb crush?
Freddie Prinze, Jr. in middle school
Gregory Smith in high school

6. What were your favorite tv shows/movies?
Everwood & anything on MTV.
I also went through a phase at the end of middle school where I spent a summer watching TLC's A Baby Story and A Wedding Story. Don't hate.

It's so weird for me to think that these things all happened 10+ years ago... ugh. I feel old.
Sunday Social
Ok! Now I'm off to stalk everyone else's linkups to see how embarrassing their photos are!
Happy Sunday!

Sunday Social

If you haven't noticed, I enjoy food. So when I saw that today's Sunday Social was all about food, I did a little dance :) Want to find 200+ recipes that I love? Check out my Pinterest board.

If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pizza, probably. That way I could do pepperoni pizza sometimes, Hawaiian pizza other times, etc. I wouldn't get so bored with only one food because pizza is so versatile. That, and I just love pizza.

What's your guilty pleasure/comfort food?
Carbs. Or ice cream. Yeah, I'm a fatty. Don't hate.

What's the weirdest/craziest thing you've ever eaten?
I don't eat weird and crazy things. Really, I don't. I used to be super picky, but as I've gotten older I've found I enjoy a lot of the foods I wouldn't try as a kid. I'm working on liking crab cakes and mushrooms, here... why would I start in on crickets and frog legs now?!

What foods do you avoid at all costs?
Anchovies.
Cooked mushrooms.
Oh, and my husband really enjoys this really smelly sausage spread stuff. I avoid that like the plague.

What meal reminds you of your childhood?
My dad used to make us themed meals for Halloween.
Spaghetti and breadcrumbs = witches hair
Grapes = eyeballs
Carrots = fingers
Juice = blood
You get the idea. I'm totally going to be doing the same thing for my kids!

Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it.
Here's a link to this delicious Buffalo Chicken "Dip" I make all of the time. We love it because it's super easy to make, is incredibly yummy, is a healthier version of the original, and we always have a ton of leftovers to take to work for the rest of the week. There's not a great story behind it but I started making it right after we got married, so I will forever be reminded of that time when we have it.

Sunday Social

When I first read the questions for this week's Sunday Social, I was over them. As in, the voice in my head said "Yeah, not cool... it's not time for Fall stuff yet! I'm still eating my corn on the cob and swimming in lakes as warm as bathwater. Not cool, not cool."

But then I started thinking about the questions a little more.
And I started dreaming of the Pumpkin Spice Lattes at Starbucks.
Oh, heavens to Betsy, I love those.

That's when I thought to myself, "Eh, we still have a few weeks left of summer. I'm definitely going to enjoy them but I gotta realize that summer's coming to an end." After I was done slapping myself in the face with a dose of reality, I kind of started looking forward to this chance to tell you about what I love about Fall.

Of course, it's not my favorite season {nope, that'd be Spring!} but it's also not as dreadful as Winter. So I better just accept the fact that it's going to be pumpkin carving time before I know it.

1. What is your favorite Fall activity?
Um, does pulling out the cardis count? I am a sucker for a comfy sweater!

And making pies. Last year I made individual pumpkin pies and this perfectly baked apple. So.Good!

2. Do you follow a football team? if so which one and why?
Living in Wisconsin, I'm forced to follow the Packers. It's a way of life here and there's no escaping it. I'm not a die-hard fan. You won't see me crying if they lose a game. You won't see me cussing out players on Twitter for dropping a pass. You won't see me going out of my way to find tickets to their games.

You will see me grocery shopping while the game is on TV - um, hello, can you say best-time-EVER-to-grocery-shop!? You will see me excited to have family over to watch a game on Sunday. You will see me making yummy snacks for everyone to eat while the game is on.

3. What is something fun about Fall in your area?

We have a fun pumpkin patch/corn maze/fall-extravaganza farm nearby and we love going to eat caramel apples and pick out pumpkins. Last year we didn't carve our pumpkins until the night before Halloween. Hopefully this year we can be a bit more on-the-ball and have those suckers out on the front steps for a week before the Trick-or-Treaters come!

4. Fav Fall outfit staples?

Cute cardis, jeans, zip up hoodies {yeah, so what if I dress like I'm in high school on the weekends?!}

Maybe this doesn't count as "outfit staples" but I'm a huge fan of Essie's Hot Coco with Matte About You on top. Perfect. Fall. Mani. Perfect!
(source) ...now just imagine this color matte... Google image search failed me

5. Thing you are looking forward to most about this coming Fall season?

Cooler weather! And planting Fall mums on our front porch - I love Fall mums. They put a big smile on my face when I pull into the driveway and see them :)

6. Favorite Fall holiday? Traditions?

Thanksgiving is my favorite Fall holiday {not like there are a lot of Fall holidays to choose from} because we get to spend a whole day with the family eating delicious food. My favorite part? It's a tie between the green bean casserole and the homemade pumpkin pies.

I am officially ready to start thinking about Fall goodness! I hope it's not too early, but I'm itching to find a time to head to the orchard and get some apples to make an apple pie!

What are your Fall favorites?

The Sunday Social Link Up with Neely and Ashley is a great way to blog hop and meet new friends. Since everyone loves a good blog hop {and because I've answered some of these questions for the Summer Blog Challenge}, I thought I'd turn my whole post into one! Follow the links under the questions to find out how I'd answer them!
How's that for a fun twist on the normal link party?

1. What is your dream job?
Being a stay at home mom working casually as a pediatric or NICU nurse at our local Children's Hospital.
2. If you had just won the lottery and didn't need to work for money, what would you do with your time?
3. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Were you a career flip-flopper?
4. What piece career advice would you give to someone just starting out in your field?
Compassion, compassion, compassion. Treat every patient as if they were your grandma/sister/best friend/nephew/son.
5. Biggest Pet Peeves either in life or in blogging or at work
6. Biggest Fears

Sunday Social

I came across this fun link up party this past week hosted by A Complete Waste of Makeup. I thought it would be fun to do it every once in awhile!

Sunday Social
This week's questions are all about travel {& you all know it's one of my most favorite things to do!}.

Best trip you've ever been on
If you read my post from last Thursday, you know how much I loved our honeymoon to Jamaica. If you haven't read the post, go here and do it now!

Best idea for a girls weekend trip
I'd love a girl's weekend to a spa! There's a great one in Wisconsin Dells that I've never been to but has been recommended to me. It's called Sundara.

(via)
Best idea for a couples trip
While I'm tempted to use my answer from the first question, I also think it would be great to take a road trip with another couple or two. How fun would it be to drive down American highways with the windows down and the music up singing along with great friends?!
(via)

Best vacation on the cheap

I love taking weekend trips to Chicago. For us, it's easy to hop on a train from Milwaukee to Chicago and find a hotel to stay in for the weekend. We usually end up hanging out in the parks, doing a little shopping, hanging at Oak Street Beach, and walking everywhere!
(via)

Place you most want to visit
I wanted to go to Greece for our honeymoon until we realized we wouldn't be able to take enough time off of work - not to mention that it costs an arm and a leg to get plane tickets to Europe! Either way, I will die happy if I ever make it to this gorgeous place!
(via)

Vacation/Travel necessities
Traveling with my husband is pretty darn great so I'd say he's probably a necessity - unless it's a girls' trip ;)
Lots of dresses to wear, comfortable clothes to put on at the end of a long {relaxing} day, and a relaxed state of mind are all vacation/travel necessities.

Now, if only I could get a vacation booked!

Here's a link straight to the Sunday Social party!
