Super Powers

July 26 - If you could have a super power, what would it be? - Submitted by Sarah-Jayne @ Keep Up With the Jones Family

As I mentioned in this beaut of a post, I would love to be able to read minds.

One of my biggest pet peeves is being left out and with that comes the feeling that sometimes people are talking about me right in front of me without me knowing or are thinking nasty thoughts without saying them aloud.

If I could read minds, I'd be able to know exactly what people think of me and what they're thinking in general.

If you were a fly on the wall of our house, you'd know that I often say to Trevor "I'm not a mind reader, you know" because of an assumption on my part or his part about what we expected from a situation. It can lead to disappointment and hurt feelings and we always try to avoid that!

Sometimes people will have such a look of bliss on their face and I wonder what is going on in their heads. Other times, people get so angry due to lack of communication and expectations. If they would have just been honest about how they really feel or think, so many issues would have been non-issues.

I'm all about transparency... I guess that's why mind reading would be my super power of choice!

  1. This would be a great power to have for the husbands as well!

  2. That would be a useful power to have, especially since it's so difficult to tell what people are thinking sometimes.

It also would be good in terms of helping others. A lot of times people will say when someone asks how they are doing, "I'm fine." In reality, they're not. It would give someone the ability to stop and see what's really going on, and see if they can help.

  5. I do not think I would want to know what people were thinking.... I feel like it is better not to know!!

  7. I'd rather not know some of the things people are thinking, to be honest. I may have said to my husband that I wished I could read his mind. What I was really wishing is that he'd communicate better.
